Inspired By…Pastel + Fluorescent

My assignment from Get It Scrapped!: Make a page on which the colors are a mix of soft pastels and fluorescents.

This assignment challenged me. If I had to choose between pastels and fluorescent, my preferred color palette would be…none of the above. I am a bright colors girl, through and through. Nevertheless, I challenged myself to give this a try.

Collection Featured: Amy Tangerine Cut & Paste
This page is about a pumpkin vine that grew up into our neighbor's tree. The fluorescent orange that frames the photos and creates the playful title emphasizes the strange sight of seeing a pumpkin growing in a tree. Since I didn't have any fluorescent paper in my stash, a neon orange stamp pad, clear stamps, scissors and punches helped me create the various page elements.

For some reason, this layout did not photograph particularly well, despite my attempts to edit it. The orange does pop a bit more in real life. What can I say? I think neon and I just do not get along. At least I tried….

  2. Did you make your YoYo embellishment yourself? It's really cute. Traditionally, I'm more of a pastel person but in the last couple of years I've really gone brighter. Your title work is really fun!

  4. You did a wonderful job with this assignment, Sue. It would have stumped me too, as I am neither a pastel nor a fluorescent girl. :) Love how you broke up the stickers in the title!

  9. I'm going to have to check out the article. I'm color challenged. I find it easier to scrap with grays, navy and more neutral colors. I'd like to gain some confidence with the pastels so I can do a girly page of my daughter. Thanks. I love your what you did with the title too and I like how you sort of shelved (for lack of a better word) the picture. Michelle t.

  10. I agree with you Sue -- none of the above! I avoid pastels. I might be able to make neon work but it would be tough. Love how you took on the challenge. Love how you balanced the brights with the grey. Great page. :)
