Go To Designs: Half & Half

Welcome to this month's edition of Go To Designs! I'm calling this one Half and Half. (The name comes from Debbie Hodge's Scrapbook Coach series. More about that at the end of this post) This is a great design for multiple photos of different sizes. Here's four examples.

On this layout, the page is divided in half horizontally with room for 5 photos, title and a good bit of journaling. The stitching, tags, buttons and stickers add texture and interest.

Another page divided horizontally. The focal point photo is double matted and highlight by the Silhouette die cut, while the bottom contains journaling and a series of photos.

Here's one I divided vertically. There's only one photo, but an entire column is devoted to journaling. This is a one of my favorite layouts.

Brand New Page! Finally, this divided canvas houses smaller photos at the top and larger ones at the bottom, thus distributing weight on the page in a way that makes sense. The placement of embellishments helps guide your eye through the layout in a zig zag fashion.

And there you have it! I made it through a whole year of Go To Designs. That's 11 blog posts and 12 Pinterest boards covering Band, Blocked, Centered, Cluster, Criss Cross, Diagonal, Grids, Half & Half, Project Life, Rectangles, Shelf,  Snuggle & Separate. Whew! For some reason, I never blogged about the Blocked Design. Not sure how that happened, but please accept my apologies.

My plans for 2014 are to put these twelve designs to good use in my scrapping and YouTube videos. That's the great thing about a Go To Design: you can use it over and over again!

Have you checked out the new Get It Scrapped Membership? It combines Masterful Scrapbook Design's magazine format and live design conversations with the hands-on video tutorials of Scrapbook Coach in one all-access pass. 6. Congratulations on completing your year of projects and posts. I particularly like the first one with the tags. This is a great design for getting in a lot of photos and still having some fun embellishment, too!

  9. Wow, good for you for getting this done, and with so many great examples! I love each one. The "Salute to America" is my absolute favorite. I love the series, and that Silhouette cut just makes the layout. My Silhouette and I don't get along well enough to do something like that! :) Great job and thanks for the inspiration!
