Last week I got a head start on lesson one of Debbie Hodge's Your December Story. I want to tell you about the class and how it's already inspired me. And I'm giving away one free pass! (If you already purchased the class, you'll get a $24 gift card good for any other GIS/MSD classes.)
Your December Story is shaped around the Hero's Journey
This December, like Dorothy dropped into Oz, you will receive a call to adventure. You will move from the ordinary world into one of magic and tests as the holiday season arrives.
This class has prompts and page ideas for visual storytelling. It starts from the heralds, moves to the challenges, mentors, special tools and returns to the known world and what you take forward. It's the most unique perspective I've ever seen and I can't wait to take the journey!
You can see right here how the class has already inspired me
Lesson One begins with what Debbie calls "the ordinary world". Understanding where you're at right now before moving into the magic and busyness of the holidays. I was inspired to create this pocket page double-sided layout about our daily life. There are two additional sections to Lesson One. I'm ready to accept my Call to Adventure!
You can take the journey with me and get a $10 gift card . . .
but only through midnight Wednesday, November 20th. When you purchase "Your December Story" by midnight PT, Wednesday, November 20, you also get a $10 gift card that you can use for Get It Scrapped and Masterful Scrapbook Design classes. Click here to purchase Your December Story and get the $10 gift card.

ReplyDeleteSo far all I have done is find my Christmas cards! Hubby is getting a new knee as I type so I haven't had too much of a chance to think of Christmas just yet. Thinking I am going to do our December story to make sure another December doesn't slip by without me documenting our family's traditions.
ReplyDeleteso far i am planing my December daily album.. didn't do much at all yet but starting soon
ReplyDeleteooh today is the day I decided to leave comments on all the blogs I follow which ties in sooo nicely with a comment about Christmas. I have made 12 Christmas cards this weekend and next weekend I hope to do some preparation on my Christmas Journal... i think I should probably start thinking a bit more about presents!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed taking a few photos to show the ordinary life too - of course, I couldn't show so much of my house - it's not nearly that tidy! I'm looking forward to sharing our journeys.
ReplyDeleteThe concept of this class makes me think of my yoga class where it's all about being present, being mindful and enjoying the moment. Love how you created these pages about your daily life and talked about the "calm before the storm". They turned out awesome!
ReplyDeleteOh, is there a grandchild on the way - did I miss that announcement? Congrats!
ReplyDeleteYour home is lovely & these pages are the perfect start to your December story.
I'm preparing by making our list of Christmas traditions and activities for us to do together and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting ready by decorating some and making cards and planning menus and goodies.
ReplyDeleteI really like your pages! This style is often done in a way that is overwhelming for me. I like that I can still see all your elements/photos and enjoy them.
ReplyDeletei window shop with my iPhone and plan a list of attack, lol
ReplyDeletei'm loving how inspiring this class is! and i'm loving your blog banner! wow! so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy family of origin and all our families have a big Christmas together. We all exchange gifts. To make shopping easier I play the role of Christmas Elf and get a wish list from everyone, distribute it and keep track of purchased items. I've already gotten most of the list together and am about to start my own shopping.

ReplyDeleteI've already decorated the stairs and balcony and put up my new nutcrackers with baby blocks that read "Merry Christmas." I've also put out scented potpourri. I'm trying to hold back, being that's it's still a bit early. No holiday music until after Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I've done is get all my older 2013 layouts ready for upload for printing before December.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot.
ReplyDeleteI also made a handful of pretty cards to add to my album.
We had to throw out our artificial tree last year because we couldn't get a string of lights to work. So I'm shopping for a new tree, and getting ready to buy the ornaments I get every year for my adult children and grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteListening to Christmas Music. Thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeletePlanning Christmas cards, letters, presents and visits - finished reviewing my card list this morning and worked out a design for the cards too.

ReplyDeleteMaking a list and preparing cards is my start
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome!...Sue... hugs...x
ReplyDeleteWe have been thinking about some special traditions we can introduce to Miss Three this year. It is hard getting festive when you live in the tropics though. \love the idea of setting the scene for before the mad rush begins.
ReplyDeleteI have sent out Save the Date cards for our party and have created a few scrapbbo pages in anticipation for the festivities.
ReplyDeleteBefore and after decorating is a good idea. I better get snapping. Got my Christmas cards ready to address and sent my invites for my cookie swap, so I'm on my way!
ReplyDeleteThis might sound silly but I'm cleaning my house!
ReplyDeleteI have not started getting ready in anyway yet. It is still too early. LOL.
