This year I've challenged myself to put Pinterest to good use in my scrapping by creating this little feature on my blog. For instance, I have a board called Techniques to Try and turned to it for inspiration on this layout. I decided I wanted to use the diagonal patterned paper strips technique found here:

Here is my version. These are about thirty Mushroom Houses located in Charlevoix, Michigan, built by a local architect between 1918 through the 1950's. The day we visited was rainy and dreary, so these aren't the best photos. I thought the diagonal patterned paper would cheer things up a bit.
See the two photos mounted on Heidi Swapp file folders? Keep that in mind. I'll come back to those in a minute and tell you what else I did with the file folders.
The mushroom is cut from my Silhouette. I cut a second shape in black to use as backing. It adds great definition and dimension. Then I pop dotted the whole thing. Who knew I would ever be searching for mushrooms in the Silhouette store, but they had two pages of them!
Back to the Heidi Swapp file folders. I typed my journaling on another one and cut it into strips. The red tourist sticker and small black butterfly repeat colors from the top of the layout to help draw the eye down to the journaling.
Anyone want to take on my challenge? Just use something on your next layout that comes from a Pinterest board!

ReplyDeleteAnd I actually have used quite a few of my pins!
One of my favorites was for a teacher gift :)

ReplyDeleteI totally love your take on the inspiration layout. Those mushroom houses look adorable
ReplyDeleteOh, those houses look so interesting, I would love to visit. Your take on the diagonal strips of paper is such fun. I love how you used a mushroom die cut in place of the word in your title. I haven't spent a ton of time yet on Pinterest because I've quickly figured out than any time can turn into hours easily. It is one of my favorite social media sites. So useful.
ReplyDeleteCute layout, love the diagonal stripes
ReplyDeleteLove your take and love our play on the title! FANTASTIC LO!!

ReplyDeleteLove the diagonal stripes! Those houses are so unusual!! I used my pinterest boards all the time for inspiration. Anytime I'm struggling with embellishment clusters or how to arrange photos, I just start looking and will usually see something that will get me going.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love your version! I've put some Pinterest inspiration to good use finally, too, and it feels great to do instead of just pin - lol! Great job!
