We've made a few changes to the house to fit our "empty nest" stage in life. The big TV in the great room has been replaced with bookcases, creating a haven for reading, music and conversation. It's peaceful and relaxing, and we don't miss the electronics one bit.
Design Notes:
- started with the photos and journaling, found a quote to use as the title
- chose a background to complement the photos and define a color scheme for the title
- repeated the patterned paper borders in the title and on the photo block to help tie everything together
Some of my favorite older photos were taken in the house where I grew up. I love seeing the rooms as much as the people in the pictures. Do you take pictures of your home? Have you changed anything recently or remodeled? Do you scrap those kinds of daily life pages? Please check out the rest of the article here for plenty of inspiration!
Great layout! I did a whole counterfeit kit once with the intent of scrapping our house remodel.
ReplyDeletePerhaps a good plan for the new year.
looks great sue!!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Sue.... Love it... love the colors and pp used... hugs...xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove how you used a quote for your title and all the different fonts. Placing all the little letters on edge punched strips keeps them together and is a wonderful design effect. We typically do one thing each year to the house to keep things updated and fresh but this year I keep putting off the project. It is outdoors and sort of out of mind most of the time. Got to get on that!
ReplyDeleteOh my, have we. My husband is doing a complete remodel of our basement to fit in a family room, full bath and laundry room. It has been quite the project and will probably get it's own mini album :)
ReplyDeleteGreat page, Sue!!
Love your title and all the little bits there are in it to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI have a real thing for any pages about houses
Love the title work! Very fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the mix of fonts! And that little house embellishment is very cute. :)
ReplyDeleteSue, I can't tell you enough how much I love this page! The colors and title treatment are wonderful. I love all of the different fonts that you used, but mostly, i love that you removed the big tv and the room still works for you. Now to convince my dh that he would survive if we moved ours. Lol...
ReplyDeleteLove the mixed font title!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
Lov the big title and the cute house
ReplyDeleteThats funny, our empty nest got a bigger screen tv, lol. Great layout
ReplyDeleteThis page is so awesome Sue!! Perfect use of the House motif to go along with your photos and I LOVE your long title with the cute mix of alphas!!
ReplyDeleteFun page! I do take photos around the house all the time but the end up in PL, not so much on scrapbook pages. Love this idea and it looks like a nice cozy spot to me! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful room for relaxing & reading. We still have the TV in our living room, but we moved the one out of our bedroom 8 years ago and have never missed it because we enjoy reading before heading off to sleep.
ReplyDeleteI've taken lots of photos of our past two homes, but wish I had more of my homes before that time. I do love photos that show some of the rooms in the homes where I grew up.
Your title quote is a feast for the eyes! I did a couple of pages on our latest remodel - I still have a couple more to go. Taking the pictures indoors is the biggest challenge for me.
ReplyDeleteThe title work quote is FABULOUS!!!! Love it!
ReplyDeletelove the little chipboard house! Great layout.
