Lily Bee Sketch Challenge #9

The latest sketch challenge over at Lily Bee motivated me to play with their Buttercup Collection, which has been sitting in my new stash pile for several weeks now. Here's another page about our vacation last summer to Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

The background patterned paper is from Lily Bee's Memorandum Collection. Love the way different lines from the same company mix and match. I added a little Mister Huey's Clay mist.

These little letter stickers are so classy, and sure come in handy when you want to spell a long word like "Tahquamenon"! The star is from the Bag of Bits.

More from the bag of bits, a sticker and a tag embellishment using the coordinating stamp set. I used Versamark and American Crafts Zing! Mustard Embossing Powder and attached it with a brad from My Mind's Eye.

This close-up shows the wonderful colors in this collection. They make me happy. My Fiskars Postage Stamp Border Punch adds an interesting edge to the bottom paper strip.

I used the 6x6 paper pad and a punch to send a cascade of butterflies down the right hand side of the page. A little stitching around the border and there you have it!

  7. Hope you don't mind, Sue...found out about the color...thank you, Google! LOL!

"Tahquamenon Falls is also called "Rootbeer Falls" because of its golden-brown color, caused by tannins from cedar swamps that drain into the river. In winter, the ice that accumulates around and in the falls is often colored in shades of green and blue." Source: Wikipedia

This place will be on my list to go to when we ever find time to up to the U.P.

    1. Thanks, Margie! I remember asking my husband that same question, and with a straight face he replied, "Bear pee." And I believed him. Until he started laughing. (p.s. he knew the correct answer all along)
