Blocks of Color

I look forward to Memory Keeping Monday each week over at Two Peas.  Even if the scrapping style is different from mine, there's always a tip or idea to pick up. I'm inspired by watching other scrappers go about their craft. Such a great way to start the week! I decided to play along with last week's video challenge: Create a color block page using at least 4 different patterns.
This page came together courtesy of Crate Paper's Farmhouse collection, specifically the patterned paper, 6x6 paper pad, phrase and border stickers and buttons I've had sitting in my stash since last fall. About time!
I trimmed a few office supply tags and added border stickers, inking, photos and stamping to create this trio of embellishments. The white string is staying in place thank to a few strategically placed glue dots.
This title sticker looked a bit flat on the page, but the outline stitching helps it pop!

Do you like to watch videos of others putting a scrapbook page together? I'm toying with this idea myself as a summer project, so your comments about likes and dislikes would be greatly appreciated!

  3. great page!

To answer your question I never watch the videos that are out on the internet. Why? i just don't have the time number one-- it takes too much time- they are always 10- 20 minutes or so and I dont have that much time to watch one. Also I know that the video series are very popular on 2 peas but i have to say i do not watch them -- I do like the classes like jennifer's card classes- i have taken 2 of those but i like those because i am going to learn new techniques and new ideas. i am not interested in how someone "famous" picks out papers and how they pick out embellishments-- am I making any sense? I also do not want to "copy" other peoples ideas.

I do like the start to finish blog posts - i have made a couple for DT work and I like the couple that you have done. Those i like!

Sorry this was sooo long winded!!

  4. Love how you used the ruler paper (never could quite figure out what to do with it myself) and all the stitching and buttons. I do like to watch videos on putting together a page. I miss Nichol's weekly series. I've gotten behind and haven't watched as many lately but regular TV will be wrapping up the season soon so more time for YouTube.

  5. What a fabulous page this is - it has all the elements I love: plenty of journaling and enough photos to fully tell the story, plus some pretty touches. Love it.

I like videos if they are sped up a bit. I like to work fast!

  6. Um, Sue, this is fabulous!
    I love the tags :)
And you have convinced me to give the Memory Keeping Monday videos a try!
I usually just watch the Shimelle videos, and haven't given the others a chance.

  7. I'm behind on my 2 Peas videos. I agree, even if the person's style isn't your own, you still get inspired by what they do. I love to watch videos. That would be awesome if you did your own.

  11. Great page! I still love that collection. Outlining the title was the perfect touch! I do enjoy watching videos because I've always been interested to see how others approach creating a page. I prefer videos that actually show you something as they create or the designer talks about why this is going here or this is how they came to this design. Not as crazy about the videos where they just put stuff together but don't discuss the whys and hows. Sounds like a fun summer project. :)

  15. Love the Crate paper and the layout! I think I still have some of it in my stash...time to get it out! I too have toyed with making videos. I like it when they don't drag on forever. I watch them but not regularly.
