Take Twelve: February 2012

I missed the deadline over at Ella Publishing, but after the crazy weekend we had, I'm pleased to be posting this page at all! Just the way life goes sometimes. The theme for February's Take Twelve is "Signs of Love". And I love these scenes Phil and I captured.
After 30 years of marriage, it's things like helping each other out around the house and taking care of the cats that we treasure. Small acts of kindness to be sure, but they add up and speak volumes. When a man will fold socks, that's love.

Earlier this month, I mentioned that I'd joined a monthly kit club. My first package arrived some time ago, so I'm behind on this, too. I've hopped on the Studio Calico bandwagon!
Besides the main kit, I ordered some extra neutral cardstock. Not super exciting, I know. This photo made the cut because of Lucky. She's one of those cats who loves boxes and bags, so she was intensely nosy pesky annoying curious as I was opening my kit.
Love the color palette of the main kit cardstock!
Here's the rest of the main kit, spread out on the table in my basement scrap room, where it's been sitting for a few weeks now. This morning I finally made a layout. I am determined to use this for at least a few pages before the March kit arrives on my doorstep!
I told myself that the main kit would provide plenty of supplies each month, but after seeing the March sneak peaks and add ons, I am wavering on that big time. (like that's a surprise) Anyone else a Studio Calico fan? What other kit clubs do you belong to?

  1. I adore your layout, and never a truer ( is that a word lol) said. It's the little things that make all the difference, and after 30 years, you should know :)

  2. That LO is wonderful - I really like the subject matter! Keep us poted on how you like SC - I have been on the fence about it for a while :)

  4. I absolutely love your layout, not just the looks of it, but the meaning too :) I have a really hard time committing to things, so I have yet to subscribe to a kit club :)

  6. Fabulous layout! I love that you kept the same format as in January :)

I subscribed for several years to Jenni Bowlin kit. I couldn't use it up so after I accumulated a huge pile I stopped. I still go back sometimes and will use them. I didn't take them apart yet. I loooooved getting the kits, it's just a luxury I can not afford right now :)

  7. Ooh, that looks like a fun kit. Great page, love the OA papers and the everyday love you captured. I don't belong to any kit clubs. I've only ever ordered one kit and that was last month from Artfuldelight. It was great and I'm still using it.

  12. Love your layout with all the photo strips! Going to scrap lift that one for sure. I have been debating about joining studio calico....but still not sure yet. I will be back to see all your wonderful creations with the kits!!

  13. I love your layout. The photo strips are so fun. I had to laugh about your man folding socks comment. My Dad is an expert at sweeping and mopping floors and that's what my Mom will say she loves most about him. :) I was a Story of My Own subscriber way back and I was so sad when they went away to get October Afternoon off the ground. I haven't subscribed to another kit since. I always love to look at them but just can't seem to hit the buy button. Keep us posted on how you are doing with the kits!

  14. Your layout looks great! The only thing I subscribe to is Studio AE although Studio Calico has been tempting me big time! I buy things from them but haven't subscribed. If I did I'm not sure I could justify my monthly perusing at Archivers! :) Keep us posted how you like it. Maybe they'll get me too!

    1. For the Take Twelve layouts, I do. I print them on one sheet of photo paper at 2x2, then use my square punch. So easy!

  18. What a great layout -- love the photo strips (big shocker), and love the colors, as always.

How funny that we took the SC plunge the same month! My tipping-point moment was when I realized it's the only way to get my Sassafras fix now that they've stopped making their own line. I love it so far, and am determined to bust the whole thing every month :)

  20. Beautiful layout - I love the photostrip photos telling the story. I have been making some too and enjoying combining lots of photos on a page.

I subbed to SC for about a year and I found it almost impossible to stick just to the Main. The add-ons are way too tempting

  22. Beautiful page Sue! Love that you are celebrating the little things. I am way behind on my Take 12, so I will enjoy yours! Enjoy your new goodies from Studio Calico!

  23. Great layout - I especially like how you adapted the topic to include all the little things that show the love you two share in your home. And the curious cat is just waiting for the box to be empty so she can jump in and check it out, right? :>) Can't wait to see what you make with that kit!
