Exciting News! (and a giveaway to celebrate)

Today Allison Davis announced the Sketch Support 2012 Creative Team and I have the honor of being a member of the team! This is so exciting to me, first because I love her sketches, and second because I've applied for the team before and didn't make it. It's been a goal of mine for some time and I'm so happy to have finally achieved it! Here are the projects I submitted:
The camera was an add-on sketch that I enlarged to create this page.

The two-page layouts are my favorite. I can't remember the last time I made a two-pager without using one of Allison's sketches.

And I made some Christmas cards from the card sketch we were asked to use. Love it when a project serves more than one purpose!

Please hop on over to the Sketch Support blog and meet the rest of the team. And in honor of the occasion, I have an extra copy of their latest book, Sketches for Scrapbooking, Volume 8, to give away to one lucky blog follower!
If you are a follower, just leave a comment to this post and on Monday, December 5th, I will randomly choose the winner. On another exciting note, my Christmas present is scheduled to be delivered today between noon and four o'clock. Can't wait to show it to you!

Weekend Crafting

Busy weekend! I attended the Great Lakes Mini Meet in Toledo with my sister and best friend. We had a good time shopping and plenty of time to work on projects.  My sister even helped me make Christmas cards! Wasn't that nice of her?
Of course, she also told me which cards she would like to receive. Not just one, but two! Does she really thing I'm going to send her two Christmas cards? I should, just for fun!
And I met an online friend, Danielle, who blogs here. It's always so much fun to meet a fellow scrapper and blogger in real life, and of course, she's as nice as can be!
So now I'm back home, still assembling Christmas cards and making my list for Thanksgiving. The next few days will be spent shopping, cooking and enjoying time with friends and family. I'll be taking a blog break, but want to wish everyone who celebrates this Thursday a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday

This should be titled "What ISN'T On My Workdesk", because I've hauled out a big stash of supplies to immerse myself in some serious Christmas card-making. It really is organized chaos around here.

I've been making a single card, then kitting supplies to make multiple copies. I have a big crop on Friday - an entire day of shopping and making cards with my sister and best friend! And during this whole process I couldn't help but indulge in a little scrap room re-organizing.

I now have a die cutting/dry embossing station that is at stand-up height. Die-cutting multiple shapes on a too-low table really made my back ache!

My ever-resourceful husband found an extra table in storage and set it up for me, so I could move my trimmers, circle cutter and score board to a new area. This is also at the perfect height for standing. He even bought me a new Ott light. I feel positively spoiled.

Here are the kits I've assembled so far. After all this work, I've only completely finished a grand total of 6 cards. (go ahead and laugh, that's exactly what Phil did) But I'm ready to make about 50 more at the crop. Any Christmas crafts in the works on your desk?

"What's On Your Workday Wednesday" is a weekly event where over one hundred crafters show and tell what's going on in their corners of the world. You can go to Julia's blog for more glimpses of our creative endeavors.

November Recipe Challenge

The November Challenge over at Scrap Our Stash is a Recipe Challenge! We were allowed the following ingredients to "cook up" our layouts:
  • 5 embellishments
  • 4 words or letters in the title
  • 3 pictures
  • 2 patterned papers
  • 1 solid paper
Here are the supplies I gathered. The patterned papers are double-sided, so I may have stretched that ingredient... like adding a little more salt for flavor?

My finished layout. Journaling reads: "Only sisters can show up at a family gathering wearing the same color shirts without any preplanning. June 2011"

Now it's your turn! All the details can be found here. Your project will be posted on the Scrap Our Stash blog and on November 30th a winner will be chosen. That winner will be offered a spot on the Guest Design Team for the month of January. Why not give it a try?
