Winter Layouts

A rare Saturday post for me, but with CHA in full swing I'll be close to my computer this weekend. Here are two winter layouts created with my Fancy Pants Hot Chocolate kit. (the one I laid out on my table here) This first page is based on the January 16th sketch at Creative Scrappers.
I chose to use lots of peaceful white space for a peaceful page about the quietness of winter. Love this scene Phil captured and we both love the journaling quote I found to go with it. Phil in particular enjoys a quiet winter walk in the woods. This layout really captures that feeling for me.
This next layout is based on the January 10th sketch at The Scrappiest. Now I'm going for that cozy feeling of being inside on a snowy winter day. Again, the background paper sets the mood.
Neither of these layouts features any special techniques or fancy effects. I'm just trying to use paper and color to capture the feeling of winter as I experience it.
In this stage of life, you won't find us sledding, ice skating or snowman building. Been there, done that. We wouldn't mind doing it again someday with the next generation, but other than blowing snow and clearing sidewalks, winter is decidedly an indoor season. I'm totally okay with that. What does winter mean to you right now?

  1. The layouts and photos are gorgeous. Love the quote on the first one, too, and the second really does look cozy!

Since the DH and I both teach, winter still means hoping for snow days :)

I'll be at scrap league today...but I'll make sure my iphone is all charged up so I can stalk CHA this afternoon!

  11. What fabulous layouts! I love the hot chocolate papers! You took really great pictures of the snow. We only get rain here, and I miss the snow, until I remember that snow= shoveling. Hope you defrost soon!

  12. Sue, these are both wonderful layouts depicting winter. Your color choices are wonderful. I too like the quote to go with Phil's photo. Winter for us means more gray cold days with only a rare snow, however today was beautiful - sunshine & 75 degrees! Even sat out on the back yard swing for a while to read a magazine and enjoy the sunshine.
