Ephemera Mini Album

Ephemera: "Things that exist or are used or enjoyed for only a short time."

January is when I update my mini-album of ephemera, meaning all the paper stuff collected from the previous year, like ticket stubs and travel brochures. Here's the ingredients that make it happen.

One basket: Where stuff gets tossed and looks like this at the end of December.
One mini-album: Where I attempt to make sense of the mess above.
Six piles of stuff: Because I have six pages per year in the album.

The results: Using none of the usual scrapbooking supplies except adhesive, the pages come together quickly. Reminds me of an old-fashioned scrapbook.
I did a much longer post about ephemera and memorabilia here. But for today, the short version will do. What do you do with all the paper stuff you collect?

  2. Oh this is a great idea, I think I will make up a mini album for my daughter who loves to save all her movie ticket stubs. She tacks them up on her bulletin board, but this way she would rotate them. Love the idea! I, myself, rarely save ephemera except on vacation.

  4. What a fast and fun way to hang onto all of that stuff! It looks like you had a fun year too!

I have a box that gets all of my ephemera -- but your basket is much, much neater than the mess I've got :)

  11. I collect lots of ephemera and usually add the items to scrapbook pages throughout the year, especially ephemera from our travels. However, I still have items that need a home (like movie ticket stubs) and I've been saving those in a separate small basket since I saw your post earlier this year and am thinking of doing a similar mini-album at some point.

  12. I love this! I save all kinds of emphemera too and if it doesn't make it's way onto a page or mini album, it pretty much sits in a box. I will do something with it all at some point. I'm considering using divided page protectors for some of it. I did that with some travel memorabila and I loved how it turned out. Was able to add a few notes too. This is a great idea - to have a book dedicated! :)

  14. Such a great idea! I do something like this but a little different. I save all my stuff and collage it on a 12x12 or 2 12x12 pages. Just like you I just use adhesive and stick it all down then just add the year in Thickers.

I heard that you stopped by SC on Sat!!!! Sorry I missed you... I was not feeling well :(
Ahh... we will try again another time :)

  16. A great idea to put all the stuff in one album. I used to put these things in pockets in my regular scrapbook pages but lately they have been getting left out altogether. Like your idea. I may need to try that for this year. Thanks!

  17. I love this Sue and may be referring to it in the future. I've been busy reorganizing my scrap space and have loads of items I plan to use in a scrapbook like yours. I enjoy the look of old scrapbooks and it's still fun to make them and not worry about things being acid-free or safe.

  19. This is a great idea. I always have a ton of this stuff, and only put it in my travel scrapbooks half the time. I'm going to borrow your idea and make one (or some) of these for myself.
