November Challenge

Today is the November Challenge reveal over at Scrapbookers Anonymous. This month the challenge is to use old holiday paper for a non-holiday layout. Here is my contribution as a member of the Design Team.
Design: Playing with Paper, p. 91
Cardstock: Black, Kraft
Patterned Paper & Embellishments: Making Memories Mistletoe (2009)
Lettering: Thickers, October Afternoon Mini Market, Sandy Lion

So how did I use last year's Christmas paper and come up with my layout? First, I chose this cardinal paper because I love it and it didn't scream Christmas to me...
which inspired this title...
that led to this story...
which resulted in choosing these photos, a current one paired with two black and whites taken for our engagement announcement way back in (gulp) 1980! This process of paper, title, journaling, photos is an order I may never have used before. I was so pleased with how personally meaningful this page turned out to be.
One last glimpse at the layout itself. The embellishments are simple, using three groupings of three items: a label sticker, a bird, a flower. That was enough for me.
I hope you'll consider giving this challenge a try. You have until the end of the month and there is a great prize! You can see what the rest of the design team came up with here.

  15. Awesome layout Sue. And I wouldn't have even known any of the product was designed for Christmas. This sounds like a great challenge. I'm not sure I've ever went outside the box and used a holiday paper on a everyday type of layout. tfs
