Consider the Background

Here's a completed layout based on a sketch over at Inspired Blueprints. I really wrestled with this one. The photos are supposed to feature our new bicycles, but in the background is our much larger and more dominant car. What was I thinking? This is why Phil is the family photographer. He always carefully considers his background.

First, phase one of the layout, photos + paper. I couldn't help adding the title.

The finished layout, with these fun new spinners from Tim Holtz and the journaling.
There were many ways I could have gone with the journaling. I could have written about how we got new bikes to ride the new path that was recently completed just outside of our subdivision. I could have shared the story of how we took our first bike rides in the parking lot of the store where we purchased them. (Wish our son had been there. He would have been so embarrassed.) But in the end I settled on this story.
So true. Sad, but true. Honestly, we don't care. We're just glad they make bicycles like that for us getting older folk.

  1. Great layout! I love all the red, and how the star burst circles look with the bicycle tires. Very complementary. If I were getting a new bike, I'd be looking for the same features!

  3. Love this layout - the colors are fabulous. Most 50-year-olds have stoped exercising and I think it is wonderful that y'all ride bikes together. I got a new bike two years ago to ride with my nieces when they visit and it is wonderful. Love the Tim Holtz spinners!
