Wrapping Up July

Here we are, coming to the end of another summer month. Time sure seems to fly faster in warmer weather. I've been sorting through the 244 vacation pictures Phil shot and finally narrowed it down to 100 to print. That's still a boatload of photos! Oh well, I have some ideas of how I want to use them and would rather have too many than not enough. In the meantime, here are 5 of my very favorite that showcase my husband's love of photography.

Ah, summer! July was a very good month. We traveled to the beach, went up to Bay City to see the Tall Ships Festival, watched the Tigers play baseball at Comerica Park, and ate out very regularly! Phil treated me to a wonderful birthmonth. Not just birthday, but birthmonth. How could we possibly do all that in just one day?

Busy weekend coming up. Looking forward to seeing our son and attending some social events. Doesn't give much time to scrap, but I'll squeeze it in somewhere!

More Pet Layouts

I made this layout a few years back, but the pictures are more than 25 years old. The three cats - Flash, Dusty, and Tigger - were our first pets. I love the memories contained in these photos, but regret I didn't do more journaling about them. Maybe I could add some writing in the upper RH corner? Hmmm...
Currently we have two cats, Lucky (the fluffy princess) and Chessie (my sleek black cat). Here's a page I made recording Lucky's obsession with drinking from the bathtub faucet. I guess it's better than using the kitchen sink faucet, sigh.
I used the same design template for the next two layouts, once for Lucky and again for Chessie. Just like kids, I had to do a page for both of them! If you took Cathy Zielske's class, Design Your Life, then I bet you recognize this. It really is true that the same design with new pictures and colors can yield very different results. I need to remember this and quit trying to re-invent the wheel with every page I make!

Finally, lest you think we only like cats, here is a dog layout. This is not our dog; he belongs to the next door neighbors! This is our usual view of him through the fence as he waits to be petted or fed a treat. I just love this picture Phil took so I found a way to use it.
Here is the same page in my album. Since the next layout is a 2-page spread, here's what I do. I love to find a stray piece of patterned paper that coordinates and add it as a filler page. This gives the eye a rest and really contributes to the scrapbook feel of the album. Does anyone else do something like this?

Look What I Got!

Some new scrapbook supplies arrived in the mail.  I placed this order at Two Peas. I will definitely be ordering from them again. First, they have some great deals, as you will soon see. Second, they ship from Wisconsin and I live in Michigan. I got my order in 2 days!! Third, with a coupon code and an order of $50 or more, you get free shipping. What's not to love about this?

Okay, here's the stuff. I've already described my love for Basic Grey's Basics line of paper in this post. So I added some of these journaling tags, office tabs and paper doilies to my stash.

These tabs are self-adhesive - love that!
The doilies are not self-adhesive, but since I have my trusty Xyron,
this poses only a minor inconvenience.
Next, to make my order total $50 and get the free shipping, I found this eye candy at 50% off. So naturally, I ordered twice as much. These will stay in the packaging and go right into my embellishment containers, which are sorted by color. I think I'll just go with the ribbon color to determine where to put them.
So for now, all this lovely stuff sits out on my table, looking pretty and reminding me that I have new things to create with. I won't be in a hurry to put it away. Maybe I'll even use some before it finds a permanent home in my stash!
